DaVinci's Digital Darkroom
Premium Commercial and Industrial Photography Marietta and Atlanta Georgia
Where art and technology come together
Our History...
John Drago is the photographer for DaVinci's. He
was born in Miami Fl but raised in rural central Ga on a small farm. He
has spent the majority of his life outdoors, doing outdoor things like
hiking, canoeing and such. He loves nature and wildlife and has spent
a significant amount of time documenting his outdoor activities with the
passion of his existence, photography.
John got his first camera when he was about 7 years old, an aged and weathered
120 mm rangefinder that his dad had tucked away somewhere ("from
back in the war", that would be Korean). From that day forward John
was taking pictures whenever he could afford the film and developing.
The Photographer...

Analog or Digital...
A year or two later he got one of those Polaroid
"Handles". (Does anyone remember those?) He kept getting new
and different cameras through out his life till the present.
He made the switch from medium format analog to digital in 2003, sold
most of his analog equipment, and has never looked back. With the advancements
in digital image capture and post production technologies, digital has
almost surpassed the quality of analog and it has become all but virtually
impossible to tell the difference. Now, there may be some purist out there
that would probably debate this all day but John would take up their challenge
anytime.
How DaVinci’s Was Started...
John has been producing superior images for clients,
albeit part time, for years when he finally decided to make it his full
time profession in 2004. Since then he has photographed a diverse range
of subjects, from salvage cylinders, wines and foods, pets, family portraits,
corporate events, youth sporting events, to figure studies. His favorite
subject to photograph for himself is outdoor adventure type sports, wild
life and untouched backcountry landscapes. He has traveled extensively and
has accumulated images from across the continent and even from off the continent.
He has a natural gift for turning the mundane into high impact images and
so tends to focus his efforts on industrial, product and high haz photography.
John’s fulltime business used to be consulting for environmental companies
where he specialized in high haz remediation, so he has a unique skill set
that qualifies him to go where others can’t.
